Abstract
The applications of new information technologies in the field of product development lead to a significant change in work processes. Due to new assistance systems, companies further reduce the available time for the product developers. Based on this observation, a research hypothesis regarding the effects of the variable “amount of available time” on the quota of flawless product development is formulated. This hypothesis was empirically analyzed by conducting a laboratory experiment. The results lead to the development of a Bayesian network. The network describes the probability that a human can process a task without an error at required times. According to the structure of the Bayesian network, the paper introduces an actor-oriented model that can be used for person-centered simulation of the occurrence and effects of errors. Finally, the paper provides insight into the use of a formal model in the case of a simulation study.
